SAVE THE RHINO - What’s being done?

PROTECTING RHINOS

Rangers are the front-line soldiers on the war against poachers, and with nearly 1000 rangers loosing their lives fighting for the rhinos, we need to do our part to protect them. Simple things such as accommodation and sturdy footwear are lacking, so some funding goes towards people in the battleground. Money also goes towards the more common protection such as: High end radio frequency tags, transmitters and of course veterinary interventions and supplements for the limited number of rhinos raised in bomas (Insitu consrvation, enclosures).

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Working with the local communities and future generations is perhaps some of the most essential support we give to the future of the rhino. Conflict between villagers and rhinos comes from the expansion of agricultural sites in both Africa and Asia, and we must work on educating the communities so we can protect both parties involved. We are the future generation, and we are the future of all rhinos.

REDUCING ILLEGAL TRADE

No demand for horns means no horns poached from rhinos, so we must tackle the issue at its base; The illegal trade of rhino horns.

Reducing consumer behaviour and funding social marketing research to stop consumers wanting to buy the horn will help reduce this trade, however this is the hardest element of stopping the rapid decline in the rhino populations.

What can you do?

Help us unshackle rhinos!

We have the power to protect and conserve the last 30,000 rhinos and with your help, the future of these majestic animals will be bright and the future of poaching non-existent. Positive change is occurring all around us, with events held nearly every month to provide a means for you to do your part in the conservation of our rhinos.
